The Russian Revolution. What Orwell believes will happen to any society because of power hungry people. Rich and poor obviously separated.
Animal Farm is just like my family. My mom would be Napoleon, she gives a lot of orders (but she is fair, most of the time). My dad is like Benjamin, he doesn't talk much and just goes along. My brother is kind of like Mollie, he went off to the army. My sister is like the four little pigs, she always contradicts what my mom says. I am like the sheep because I cannot do anything on my own because I am afraid I will be wrong.

I think what he symbolized for Orwell was the media that gives information that the ruler wants to give. He is always telling them what is going on and why.
To me, he symbolized the interpreter because he interpreted Napoleons demands.

Boxer

He represents the working class for Orwell. Boxer is always working. He never falters. His motto was "I will work harder". He always worked as hard as he could and never backed down. He his work was much, much more than others. He stayed out later than others. He woke up and worked earlier than others. He then woke up even an hour earlier than he used to. He had a bad hoof, but did not take a day off work.
To me, he represents the determined and hard worker that will not stop working.

They represent the masses as a large that go along with leadership. They never, in the story, questioned anything that Napoleon said or did. They always went along with things that Napoleon said. They could not decide things on their own.
To me it means me, I can't make decisions on my own, just like the sheep.

The farmhouse

To Orwell, the farmhouse meant the palace in Russia. Nobody was supposed to live in the palace because it was ruled by a hated leader. Then, the guy who represtened Napoleon, who was also the leader of Russia at the time, moved into the palace.
To me it is a haunted mansion that nobody wants to go in.

To Orwell it meant the citizens in Russia overthrowing the bad leader that they didn't like. They were probably tired of him and needed him to go away.
To me, it means that the animals were ready to fight for freedom.
