A web quest is a way of putting together information that supports your opinion of something. It mainly focuses on one particular topic. It's purpose is to share what they found with other people.
Step one List of media that I can think of: Newspaper: entertain, inform, persuade Television: inform, entertain, persuade Internet: entertain, inform, persuade News conferences: inform Radio: inform, entertain, persuade Magazines: entertain, inform, persuade Movies / Documentaries: inform, entertain, persuade Bil boards: persuade, inform Books: inform, entertain, persuade
3) Media can be influenced by Government because if Government doesn't want something to be shown by the media, it will not be shown. An economic factor that can influence media is if a company pays the media to either show their ad or hush up something that they did. A natural disaster or man made disaster can drastically change the media because it will be all over the media.
4) The effects are that the group that is not portrayed will probably face distrust and glares and will probably have their reputation ruined.
Step 2: 1) The Iraqis were portrayed as being happy about the statue, but they were not. The Americans were portrayed as heroes to the Iraqis by helping them, although the Americans were not. 2) The location is Middle East, bordering the Persian Gulf, between Iran and Kuwait. The capital is Accra. The climate is desert with mild winters. Language is Arabic. Religion is Muslim. Culturally, Iraq has a very rich heritage. 3) The similarities are that they talk about the same event. The differences are that one talks about how great America is and that is an American paper. The other papers talk about how bad America is. 4 The video was staged. it was filmed with the two flags of the countries.the soldiers called the people out and told them what to do. 5 The affect this has on me is that it makes me feel mad that the media would lie to us like that. I feel outraged that the soldiers would stoop so low to orchestrate the event. I could be wrong in my opinion because i only have a small understanding. 6 I think the media chose to show the story to show us that everything's great . They omitted the fact that the soldiers orchestrated the entire event. 7 The images in my opinion were doctored to try to place a feeling of peace. 8 It served ,again in my opinion , to make the Iraqis mad at us. Again I'm not for sure. 9 I think that the military benefits from this lie. 10 Yes. If we altered the fact that The people who did the boston tea party did in fact do it, then the seed of rebellion would have been smothered.
Step 3 1 U.s. Newspaper British newspaper a) Really big images kinda small images b) Big fonts and bright colors medium font dark color c) Takes up entire pg. takes up half pg. 2 The us citizens British citizens 3 The Iraqis us soldiers
Step 4 1 The outcome was distrust and hate assalts. 2 Yes 3 No it is not multicultural 5 Yes it has shown me that there are many sides to the story.also don't trust the media. 4 I feel ashamed that citezens of our country would do that to other citizens even if they are Iraqis 6 Yes the media has shaped our history, forever placing distrust in our heart.
Step 5 I am sitting here right now, trying to think of 3 paragraphs that talk about truth being the first casualty of history. the first paragrah will be on the Boston Massacre, The second on the video of the statue of Saddam Hussein, and the third on the government not wanting people to know that meat and dairy isn't good for you.
The Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, back when Britian was in control of America, There was a group of British soldiers standing on guard in Boston Massachussetts. A group of Colonists came up to them, and that's when the story splits. Some articles say that the Colonists were only throwing snowballs and little pebbles at the soldiers, and the soldiers decided to start shooting out of spite. Others say that the Colonists were throwing huge clumps of ice snow, and chunks with rocks in them, and one of the rocks hit one of the soldiers. The soldier was knocked down, and lost his temper, and fired when the lead soldier strictly instructed them not to fire.
This is and example of truth being the first casualty of history. The Colonists used this to get other colonists angry, and start the spark of rebellion. This is like media in the U.S. today. they show an event, and hid all the truth to make it seem totally different from what it actually is. If the government or the media doesn't like something, they will hide the whole truth, or hush it up. It also depends on where you live at the time. If you lived in Britain at the time of Boston Massacre, you would not see the same perspective as most Americans are. You would probably see helpless soldiers provoke to fight. It all depends on how you see things.

Video of Saddam Husein's Statue
In the video that I saw about Saddam Husein, the Americans were basiacally staging the entire thing of bringing down the statue. There's the Iraqi side of it, and there's the American's side of it. From the American's side, The media made it look like we were the heroes, and we saved Iraq. From the Iraqi's view, they basically had to be called out of their homes to even witness the event because of all the bombing that was going on. Once again, the Media only wants you to see what they want to see. It kind of makes you wonder what else the media is hiding from you right now. This will be in kid's history books one day, and not really have the entire truth, because to have the whole truth would be listening to both side of the story, and not just America's view. It will just be known throughout history as how Iraqis celebrated on the streets the day Saddam Husein's statue was knocked down, when really it was the American Journalists that was doing the celebrating. While the U.S may have a tad bit of an issue on keeping our noses out of other people's businesses, we were doing what we thought was best at that time. Truth is a mysterious thing....
Meat and Dairy aren't good for you
Here's the shocking truth...meat and dairy aren't good for you AT ALL!!! In the book The China Study, Dr. T Collin Campbell talks about how he did studies that show that meat actually helps cancer. There are already little cells inside of you that cause cancer, and plants make their own protection against it. Meat and dairy actually help those little cancer cells grow, and make you unhealthy. The media is trying to hush all of this up, because meat and dairy companies are giving them lots of money, and they don't want to lose all of this. In the "Forks Over Knives" video, It talks about how eating fruits and vegetables actually causes most cancer cells to rewind, and keep from getting worse. It also says that anything you can get in meat or dairy, you can get better in fruits, vegetables, and legumes. In the same movie, it talked about how there was this lady that was told by her doctor that she should just basically sit one her couch and wait to die. She didn't do that. She went on a no meats or dairy diet with the help of a Dr. Esselstein, and is still living twenty years later. These two guys were the main people talked about in Forks Over Knives, and they're now well into their seventies, are riding bikes, and still going strong. You don't see that nowadays. This is an example of Truth Being The First Casualty of History, because the Media is distorting the truth of meat and dairy not being good for you. They don't tell the whole truth, like lots of things, mainly wanting us to see only what they want to see.
