Come hike up into the stunning Himalayan Mountains that make up Nepal, where granite giants loom capped with snow. Become famous back home for hiking among the powerful mountains of this range, always in the shadow of Mount Everest. Or take it up a notch and climb this great mountain and stand on the roof top of the world. (This is only a good idea if you are an experienced climber) Either way you will be following the same ancient paths that the people of Nepal travel to transport food, goods, and news of their village.
At each day’s end, kick back and relax with a cup of tea in a teahouse. These little stone huts are part of the small villages that have sprung up in the mountains like mushrooms. That’s right, there are actually villages plopped in the middle of the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal. The local villagers are excited to meet and serve you in their small inns. Just make sure that if you do get some tea, patronize local services that use gas for cooking instead of wood. The wood that is used by some innkeepers to serve trekkers has caused deforestation.

Tanzania
Imagine yourself standing in the middle of a herd of wildebeests, grazing under the blazing African sun. Nearby, a pride of lions looks over you as if you were subjects in their expansive kingdom. Welcome to Tanzania!
Tanzania is a country in the southeastern part of Africa on the coast of the Indian Sea. Besides lions and wildebeests, you’ll find hyenas, zebras, warthogs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and much more. Behind this menagerie you are going to find expansive grasslands, striking savannahs, and crowning it all, the omnipotent Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Not only will you see “Lion King” brought to life, hours of photo safari will capture this memory. These photo safaris are also beneficial to wildlife preservation, because the locals have decided that they are a better idea than hunting the animals to extinction for profit. By joining these photo opportunities you can help the Tanzanians stay preservation minded and still make a living.

Leavenworth, WA
Have you ever wanted to visit a little Bavarian Village without leaving the U.S.? You can. The people living in Leavenworth, Washington have created a village straight out of a Swiss Alps postcard by imitating Bavarian architecture and culture.
Stroll down the streets and listen to the accordion band as you smell the apple strudel in the air. See the mountain goats that wander about to mow the grass. Try tasting the fine chocolates that are made in local shops as the yodelers go one more round.
Make sure you are in town for one of their many festivals, like Mayfest where town dancers braid the Maypole as care freely as children. Or Oktoberfest that celebrates the color of the autumn leaves, or for some of you, an excuse to drink lots of beer. Or a winter favorite, the Tree lighting festival where every tree and building is wired with colorful light bulbs that explode with holiday splendor at the last beam of sunlight.
So if you just don’t have the time or money to go all the way to Europe, head to eastern Washington where a little village, nestled under the care of Cascade Mountains, awaits you.

If the first thing that pops into your head when someone mentions “Alaska” is, “It’s so cold”, you have no idea what you are missing. Come see.
You will find that Alaska is filled with astonishing mountain and miles of pure open wilderness. Who knows, you might just get to check out caribou watering in the calm river, or watch a pack of wolves howl at the moon in the night. For those who like to fish, you are in luck! Alaska has some of the best sport fishing around. Some other types of summer outdoor fun are hiking, kayaking, hunting, and mountain climbing.
Once winter coats the land with snow, you’ll get to watch the surging Idiarod dogs zoom by, or better yet, catch a ride. Then test your limits in skiing or snowboarding, and race your friends on a snowmobile. In the night watch the snow gentle pat the ground as the northern lights paint the sky.
Put yourself in the mukluks of an Eskimo and learn about their culture their home. Then take it home with you and make your trip to Alaska one to remember.

Tons of outdoor fun pretty much sums up Washington State, situated in the far northwestern part of the United States. Whether you want to be on the ocean, along the coast, or in the mountains, Washington has it all. Also, if you are big into white water rafting or kayaking, there is no better place to get wet.
If you love hiking, try exploring the Cascade Range with a string of volcanoes woven into it. Have you ever heard of Mt Rainier? Or Mt. Baker? These are just a few of many. But don’t worry they are very unlikely to erupt. However they did say the same thing about Mt Saint Helens... but hey, the blast zone of this great volcano’s eruption of 1981 is the perfect hands-on learning experience.
With mild winters and hot summers, this region is perfect for growing apples and other fruit. Are you an apple lover? Great! The tidal flat of the coastal area are also a great place to find produce.
Washington State is very big on environmental protection. If you find it hard to get something significant started in your area, this state is a leading example for environmental preservation.
They love to recycle, they care about old growth forests, and they have a very good hold on avoiding water and air pollution. For all you tree huggers out there, there is hope in Washington.
