exactly where it is. It can come in the form of visual landmarks,
distance, or directions.

would involve landforms such as rivers, mountains,
or prairies.
Humans adapting to the environment
would mean the people living in the area change their lifestyle
to suit the environment. Humans modifying the
environment would mean they change the landscape to
their liking. When they depend on the environment,
they use parts of the environment to their advantage.
The movement of people could be immigration. People immigrate, maybe to start a new life, sometimes for political reasons.
The movement of goods could be commerce. Commerce is the exchanging of goods. People trade to get items they need, want or lack. The movement of ideas could be when a part of a culture could be picked by another culture.
Formal regions have exact boundaries, such as a city, state, country, or continent.
Functional regions are areas defined by a company or product. If it is discontinued, so is the region. Vernacular regions are defined by the locals. They are not official.
