Movement is people and ideas, moving and interacting, and how it plays a role in our society.
Region
There are formal, functional, and vernacular. Formal is like actual federal boundaries like Alabama and the United States. Functional is a region is defined by a business or other function that only goes to a certain area, like where a newspaper is distributed, or where a business' products are shipped to. Vernacular is based on a person's perception of an area, like the North, or the Southeast.
Location
There are absolute and relative locations. Absolute is an exact location like a street address or latitude and longitude. Relative location is using another landmark to show where something is like saying the building next to the green barn.
Place
The two types of characteristics for a place are human and physical. Human is the impact we have on the place like buildings, streets, and vehicles. Physical characteristics are things that were already there like mountains, rivers, and trees.
Human-Environmental Interactions
This theme is all about what we do to the environment and what is does to us. We depend upon, adapt to, and modify the environment around us. Environment isn't always the trees and mountains around us, sometimes it's just the place we live, like our apartment, or the place we work.
