George: "Me too, it'll be okay though, she'll come back and help us."
Jorge: "What if she doesn't?"
George: "She will. I know she will."
Suddenly, the door opened with a creek.
The dark figure across the room, slammed the door, locked it.
And screamed.

The Perfect Move

Chicago, the city they lived in before the move.
Their new "perfect" home.
Their new "perfect" home.

It was night time in Chicago, Illinois. D3m3tria was at the dinner table with her parents, and she was well, eating dinner. That was when her parents had told her that they had an announcement. D3m3tria had no idea what it might be. Did they find out about my D in Math? Are we going on a cruise vacation for the rest of our lives? Is it what they are getting me for Christmas? That is what she was thinking. Then they said it. "Were goingto move to Bartlett. It's a smaller town, we were there the other day checking it out. It seems so nice," mom said. "And perfect too. Everything is so organized and you never hear about any chaos ever," dad added. "But, why? Why there? Why now?" D3m3tria asked. "It is perfect for us. It's so nice and quaint. End of story. We are moving this weekend," mom ended that conversation.

Within the next week they were all packed and ready to go to Bartlett. D3m3tria was still uneasy about it all. She didn't know about a place that was perfect. She didn't know it was achievable. That Friday, they all got in the car and were on their way to Bartlett. It was only about forty minutes away. When they got there, D3m3tria figured out what perfect was. Perfect is just perfect. Their new home, was two storys & was a cream color and it was beautiful. They brought everything inside and started to unpack. Her mom was unpacking the kitchen, her dad the bathroom and D3m3tria her room. The phone has just rang and her mother was the one to answer it. "Hello, this is the mayor of Bartlett. I just wanted to make sure you know the guidlines and your duties." said the mayor on the phone.

The next day, after D3m3tria came back from school, there was a package on the doorstep of her new home. She decided to bring it inside and open it carefully. Inside, it was full of papers and paperwork. Her mom walked in when she was examining the papers and asked, "What is that?" "I don't know. It was on the doorstep," answered D3m3tria. Her mom Lynda, looked through the papers. "It's the guidelines for this town. It tells us everything we need to be perfect." "Perfect? Why perfect? Do they want us to be like clones?"

After that conversation, school, work and everyone was weird. No one talked to the new family. No one even looked at them. It came Friday, and D3m3tria was at school. The teachers were acting weird, so weird, in fact that even the birds stared at them. D3m3tria was called on to answer a question and didn't know the answer. She was sent to the principals office and then they escorted her to the police station. She had no idea what the heck was going on. Her parents were there too. They were all put into a jail cell for reasons that they did not know. They asked why they were put in there and the police hesitated then simply said, "All people are equal but some people are more equal than others. In your case, you're not equal at all. You disobeyed the rule of perfect. Lynda, put decorations on the outside of the house and was late for work. Peter, has had no job yet and D3m3tria didn't know the answer to a problem in school. It is all about uniformity and knowing everything. Everyone has a duty to do. You're duty is to stay here until you learn about our perfect society."
