Story: The Great Search For The End of the World

"Mom, what does the end of the world look like?" Zoe asked her mother.

She replied, "Oh, I don't know, some people think that it is a perfect society where everyone gets along, sounds like somewhere you and your brother need to go!"

"Thanks mom that’s a great idea I’ll go tell Liam he will be so excited!!" Zoe says as she runs up the stairs.

"LIAM!!!!" Zoe screamed.

"What do you want little girl"he said annoyed.

"Mom said we should take a journey to the end of the world to find a place where there is this thing called a perfect society and where we can get along."

Liam throws his pillow and runs down the stairs yelling"MOM!!!! Is it true can we really go to the end of the world?"

"Sure you can if you know where to go." she replies sarcastically.

“Yeah!!!!” they both called out.

“I was joking” mom yells but they were already up the stairs and could not hear her, as so she thought.

Over the next month they spent their time preparing secretly. They made a map, packed their bags, got lots of food and drinks; soon they would be on their way to the end of the world!

“Oh this is going to be the best summer vacation ever” Zoe says to Liam.

Liam replies “Don’t get your hopes up!”

“Why not? I thought we were both excited for this trip.” She said.

“whatcha doing up their kids.” Mom said as she walked up the stairs.

“Oh nothing just talking” they both seemed to mumble out. “You two seem to be getting along lately, hmm, weird.” Then she walked back down the stairs nonchalantly. After a long silence Liam finally manages to say, “Few that was close.” They went back to their work to be able to leave in morning if all went as planned.

The next morning they go to their last day of school. The plan was to leave right after school. After a lot of thinking they concluded that writing a letter would be the best way to let her know of their unexpected leave. It said:

Dear Mom,

I know you said that we couldn't go to the end of the world, but we think it is a good idea so we both can get along better. Here is a map of where we are headed. We will be back sometime in the next month, hopefully. WE LOVE YOU A LOT!!!!!

Liam & Zoe

Once the letter was on the counter where she could find it, off we went.

"Are we there yet"

Zoe complained.

"No, just like the last 10 times you asked." Liam had retorted. They continue arguing for the next three hours until Zoe had spotted a lost puppy.

"Can we keep it? Please! Pretty please with sugar on top!!!"

"No!”All we need is another thing to look after."

“Oh, come on isn't it so cute though?" “I guess we can but you have to take care of it!"

"Aye aye captain."

They had walked for almost 3 months but no luck. Until they had seen something in the horizon it was late and had not seen life in weeks. Zoe and Liam ran as fast as their tired bodies would let them. What they had found was not the end of the world but life as we know. It was two monsters, 1 flying unicorn, and Santa clause.

Of course Zoe screams out, "Can we keep them? PLEASE!!!!"

"No these are living things that have a job to do. Plus I'm sure they don't want to be hanging around some kids who are finding some dumb place that doesn't exist."

“what’s this place you speak about" one of the monsters, Glubber asks.

"It’s the end of the world my mom keeps telling us about"

"are you serious! We have been searching for 5 years trying to find it. We could use some help if you don't mind."

"That would be great"

As they continued on their journey their mom was terrified that they would be dead. It had been almost four months and no sight of them. She was to scared though that she would die looking for them and had this feeling that they would return home safely soon. Later that afternoon she had gotten a call from some place she had never heard of.

When she answered it Liam was on the other line “Mom?”

“Oh my gosh where are you are you safe????”

“yes mom we are safe and we are almost to the end of the world be home soon gotta go love you lots. Bye”

“Bye” mom said but he had already hung up and could not hear her.

Liam was right they were almost there. Not a person move, nobody stirred, not a single thing was alive, everything but the grass in the wind. Something was off in the distance and it was what they had hoped to see for months. Only time itself could describe how long they had searched for such an amazing, sight.

“So, this is it? this is what we have been searching for, for so long?”

“Wow, Mom is always right this place is beautiful and guess what Zo?”

“We are actually getting along! Now that is a thing I never thought I would see.”

“Yep funny how we went to the end of the world just to find a perfect society when really we could do on our own!"

We went home, and told mom all about are adventure. She seemed really excited to see that we were getting along and are safe. Every year they take a trip to the end of the world

and each year they get closer to each other.
